A little about me.

Alaska born. Michigan based. Seattle at heart.

I'm George Sookiayak, an IT professional, photographer, and lifelong admirer of the Pacific Northwest. Born in Nome, Alaska, and raised in the small coastal village of Shaktoolik, I've spent much of my life somewhere between Alaska, Washington, and Michigan. These days, I call Grand Rapids, Michigan, home, where I work in IT management, solving problems, helping people, and occasionally wondering how something that worked perfectly yesterday has stopped working today.

Outside of work, I'm a photographer, coffee enthusiast, watch collector, and unapologetic Seattle sports fan. I've always been drawn to the details that make places and moments memorable: a rainy afternoon in Seattle, a good cup of coffee, the atmosphere of a baseball stadium, or the quiet beauty of an ordinary day. Photography has been one of the ways I've tried to capture those moments, even if some of my favorites exist only in memory.

Seattle has held a special place in my heart for as long as I can remember. There's something about the city, particularly in autumn, that has always felt like home. Maybe it's the weather, the waterfront, the neighborhoods, or simply the memories accumulated over countless visits. Whatever the reason, a part of me remains perpetually stuck in autumn 2014 Seattle. And I'm perfectly fine with that.
